KS Inspiration - Adriannas Owl

My son is mad on owls..
So my challenge was t take this girly owl and make it suitable for either sex...
and being near Christmas of course it had to be a Christmas card !

So here is my Karleigh Sue Adriana Owl - Christmas style

I also wanted to keep it CAS..

I cut her out using a nestie die.

Edged this cut out with a red felt pen
I coloured her using the following polychromo pencils
Bow - lyra light carmine, moss green
Branch - lyra burnt sienna, Faber Castel caput mortuum

Owl - Lyra raw umber, burnt ochre, van dyke brown, gold ochre

The background paper is from my stash.

I had to buy a new Christmas greeting die this year - so made good use of it on red card to match the base card.

I hope this inspires you to join Karleigh Sue challenge and share your projects with us all.

ks inspiration - Cuddie Buddie

Good morning,
todays blog features Karleigh Sue Cuddie Buddie image

I was inspired by her camoflage onesie...

I knew I had some papers in my stash that would work with her. (these are from an old issue of Making Cards)

So I found suitable colours in my blendable pencils and away we went. - recipe below..

Hair - Faber Castell caput mortuum violet
Skin - Lyra light flesh, med flesh
Onesie/Panrs/Shoes - Derwent deep fuschia, lime green, Lyra brown ochre

I picked a random layout from my box and layered each piece up onto craftcard.
Going back in time to use a peel off for the greeting ;-) lol

I hope you find this inspiring and pop over to Karleigh Sues challenge and share your projects.

kind regards

KS Inspiration post - Senorita

I wanted to put a different twist on Senorita
So I went with a new year card.. to celebrate with some vivid colour..

Recipe

Skin - Lyra medium flesh, dark flesh
Hair - Lyra burnt ochre, raw umber, dark sepia
Roses - Lyra rose madder lake, Derwent deep fuchsia
Dress - Lyra light green, dark flesh, rose madder lake

I found some backing papers from an old magazine that I liked the colours on so went with those

Cut some spirals from some of the scrap card and rolled 4 flowers.
spiraled 2 thin strips of the pink backing card I used.
Printed the greeting and punched out with a circle punch, mat and layered on same papers

I used a different card fold (learnt the other week at Sir Stamps Alot)
An A4 card folded in 1/2 to make an A5 size portrait card then divide & cut into 3 horizontaly (approx 7cm tall)
Then mount your image onto the front of it so it stands above..
(With some practise you can work out the right sizes to fit the envelopes you have)

I hope this inspires you to get colouring and share your projects on Karleigh Sue Challenge blog

CCCB - Challenge # 137 - Art By Mirian - Berrylicious

I wanted this fruity little number to be a xmas card
(I am so behind on making this years it is ridiculous!)

I was going to add 3d berries and such to this Art By Mirian Berrylicious digi until I re-read the guidelines for this challenge.. CAS so had a rethink..
This is what I came up with..

I made a 6x6 card from some green 12x12.
trimmed down a 6x6 xmas paper to fit showing a slight edge of the green.
coloured the image with the following pencils

Skin - Lyra light flesh, medium flesh
Hair - Derwent ochre, Lyra cream
Dress - Lyra cream, gold ochre
Berries - Derwent deep red, Lyra India red
Leaves - Lyra moss green, cedar green

Then layered her on the same green card as the base card.
2 red brads/split pins under and to the right of the image.

I love this image and may make a few more

I hope this inspires you to pop over to CCCB challenge and share your projects

613AC - #141 Love Me Do

This project uses a Bugaboo digi called Faith block.
The challenge was 'Love Me Do' as it was on September 11th, 1962 The Beatles recorded their 1st single  "love me do"

After watching someone on Create & Craft colouring something red by starting with bright orange I thought I'd give it a go too..  It's supposed to emphasise the redness..

So I used Bright Orange Promarker to colour the roses.
Moss Green Promarker on the stalks and leaves.
Then coloured over the top with Derwent pencils - scarlet, red, deep red, and bright orange on the roses.
Derwent purple on the butterflies.
Faber Castel  light cobalt and turquoise for the background/
Lyra light blue on the background

and Burnt Carmine on the roses.

I layered the image onto red card from my stash and added a couple of butterflies that I found in a toppers box.

I hope this inspires you to share your projects.

KS Inpirational post - Lets Go Team

Todays post uses Karleigh Sues Let Go Team digi

I'm guessing as our artist is American this is aimed at being American football,
But being a Brit I used artistic licence to turn it into a rugby theme.

I used Polychromo pencils.
Shades of blacks and greys for the hair.
Flesh and blush for her skin.
Then shades of orange for her team strip.

The rugby ball is just in light shades of grey.

I found co-ordinating coloured papers in my stash to bring it all together.
Hand cutting a rugby ball shape for an embelishment.

And a peel off Dad that I coloured black with a Sharpie pen.

This is in our favourite rugby league team colours - Castleford Tigers..

Please pop over to Karleigh Sues challenge blog and share your projects.

TTPH - Sept - Zuri - Nadia

This project uses Zuri digi Nidia.

The challenge theme was birthday.

My inspiration for this digi was a part made dream catcher I found in my stash!
Which lead to the greeting.
I added extra beads to the dream catcher to co-ordinate with the colours used on the digi.

I cant find the list of pencils used

(blame my post holiday head!)
But I have started to use Promarkers as a base colour
building up layers with the pencils.
I added some Diamond Glaze to the bubbles to give them a wet look (hasnt come out well on the photo)

I hope this inspires you to use things out of the norm on your projects

TCCC - All Dressed Up - A Star is Born

This is my first project for this DT..
The challenge theme was monochromatic for a child for National Childhood Awareness week

My recipe for this project is very simple and listed below

Promarkers, dabbed on in the following shades;-
Walnut, Cinnamon, Tan, Satin.
Then dab blender over to get the 'fluffy' effect
and a gold pencil (no make) to colour the stars

I used a 'nesty' type die set (sorry no idea what make it was as out of packaging on magnetic sheets) to cut out the image and a patterned layer that was in my scrap box.
I found a random piece of gold ribbon to layer diagonally.
Used a brown Promarker to outline the edges of both die cut pieces
and another to draw faux stitching around edge of card blank.

I hope this inspires you to share your projects.

KS - Inspiration post - Birthday Sweets

Todays inspirational post uses Karleigh Birthday Sweets.

I made this card to give to my cousin-in-laws daughter (is there such a thing as a cousin-in-law?)

Again, I forgot to list the colours of the polychromo pencils used - sorry..

I cut around the balloon by hand then layered it over a circle die to cut the rest out - missing the balloon
(easier to do than it is to explain!)

Mat and layered her on more circles from papers in my stash.

Cut the sentiment pieces from another die set (unfortunately these are out of their packaging on magnetic sheets and I cant remember the make of them)

Added as ribbon and bow from my stash.

I am magically blogging this as I fly to Rhodes ;-) lol
With this card is in my suitcase for a barmans birthday over there.

This project uses Karleigh Sue Just A beer Please digi.

I used my Polychromo pencils to colour her.
(sorry I got carried away with the colouring and didn't list the pencils used)

I cut her out using one of my fancy dies.
layered up over the same die in card from my stash.
Wanting to keep the 'bar' theme I rummaged through my peel off stash (once I'd wiped the dust off them!) and found a beer glass and bottle with glass.
Filled with diamond glass to get the glass effect and glued cotton wool on the pint for the beer head.

This months inspiration post for Through The Purple Haze  is a Sweet Pea digi called Fuschia Fairy

I coloured her with my polychromos.
Using shades of red/pink and purples (sorry, I forgot to list the exact colours!)

Like my friend (whose birthday it is for) I love Fuschias. so this card was a pleasure to make.
I borrowed her Fuschia stamp and stamped and coloured 3 fuschias to decorate the side and used some of my beading wire to make the flower stems.

KS New Release

This months new release from Karleigh Sue is Holiday Greetings.
You can find her and a few more new ones over at Karleigh Sue's etsy shop

I printed her on Neenah card stock and coloured her with my polychromo pencils.
My die cutting machine was out for another project so I thought I'd layer her up

(sorry, no idea what or where the dies are from - they are off their packaging on a magnetic sheet, and my memory is pants!) lol

I added some ribbon from my stash and cut the mats and layers with the same dies (again papers from my stash)

Added some christmas coloured gems I purchased from KS.

I hope you like this inspiration for KS new release image and will pop over to their challenge blog and share your projects.
We love to see them

Kind regards
Theresa
